Mesabi Range students and persons from the community may check out materials from the Library. A valid barcode identification card is required to check out materials from the Mesabi library. Please see the library staff to obtain a library card.

SOME IMPORTANT TIPS
  • Don't lose your card - the first card is free, replacement fee is $5.00
  • Don't loan your card - you are responsible for anything checked out on your card
  • Keep your card handy - you need it for all checkouts, use of materials on reserve, and interlibrary loan requests
  • Your password is your last name - if you are concerned about privacy, we recommend you change your password
  • Your Mesabi library card is valid at all MnPALS libraries.
When using MnPALS, you can perform the following by going to "Your Borrowing Record"
  • Display items linked to your patron record by title or barcode
  • Renew titles linked to your patron record
  • Submit or cancel interlibrary loan requests
  • Change or cancel "hold" requests on items you would like to be next in line to check out

Overdue materials: If you need materials beyond the normal loan periods, renew them if allowable. Prompt return or renewal of materials is the responsibility of the Patron. Patrons will be charged replacement costs for unreturned, lost or damaged library materials.

Non-payment of replacement charges will result in loss of library privileges and, for students, a hold on your Mesabi college transcripts. All replacement costs must be paid in order to clear your Patron record and release your college transcript.
